Aimed specifically at teachers
Unlike other awards, the Teach Primary Book Awards don’t just recognise exceptional writing and beautiful illustration. They also take into account factors that are particularly significant for teachers who are looking for books they can share with pupils, and use to create and teach outstanding and unforgettable lessons. These factors include:
- Learning opportunities
- Emotional complexity
- Points for discussion
- Language play
Selected by a panel of judges including well-loved authors and literacy experts, these are books that teachers can confidently suggest to parents and share with pupils. They’re perfect for exploring in the classroom, as well as enjoying at home.
How are winners celebrated?
Teach Primary is known and respected in primary schools throughout the UK. Primary schools across England, Wales and Northern Ireland receive free copies, reaching more than 20,000 teachers every issue. The magazine can be found in staffrooms everywhere, and in the homes of thousands of subscribers.
Shortlisted and winning titles will be presented in a five-page celebratory spread of both Teach Primary magazine, and sister title Teach Reading & Writing, a magazine that is mailed directly to English coordinators and librarians in primary schools across the UK.
We’ll also be celebrating shortlisted and winning books on Twitter with our 69k followers, and directly to teachers via our email database, carefully curated over the span of a decade.
