Eight-page PDF
Early Years, KS1, KS2
Years R-6
Our cutting practice worksheets are perfect for helping your pupils build confidence with scissors. This eight-page resource will help students in Early Years and KS1 to develop fine motor skills.
Each worksheet offers progressively trickier exercises. These guide children from simple to more complex cutting tasks, helping them master the art of scissor control.
The worksheets start with simple tasks like cutting along straight lines. This allows pupils to practise holding scissors correctly and build basic coordination.
Once they’ve got the hang of straight lines, they’ll move on to following curved lines. This is a great next step for improving dexterity and precision.
From there, the exercises become more challenging, introducing circles and irregular shapes. These activities will help refine pupils’ control, concentration and hand-eye coordination.
Cutting practice worksheets
By the end of the worksheet, your pupils will have a strong grasp of the different movements involved in cutting.
This will not only improve their scissor skills but also their ability to focus and complete tasks by themselves.
Use these cutting practice worksheets as a standalone activity or as part of a larger fine motor skills programme in your classroom.
They provide a fun and engaging way to help children develop a crucial skill that they’ll need as they progress through school. Plus, they’re easy to implement and can be used for small group work, independent tasks, or even as part of a homework pack.
