This positive and negative number line printable PDF is perfect for a wide range of number line activities. It’s ideal for supporting key mathematical concepts in the classroom.

With options ranging from -100 to 100, -20 to 20 and -10 to 10, with various spacings, it allows you to introduce number lines incrementally as pupils build confidence in working with positive and negative values.

Each format in this resource supports different aspects of number work. The number lines from -100 to 100, with lines every 5 or 10 numbers, are ideal for pupils working on larger integers. They will help pupilsto visualise and understand the span of negative and positive values.

This format is particularly useful for discussing absolute value and developing familiarity with counting up and down from zero. These are essential skills when introducing concepts like temperature or elevation.

The number lines from -20 to 20 include options with markings for every number and every even number. This offers a helpful transition for students who are practising smaller negative numbers.

These number lines are great for addition and subtraction exercises. This is especially the case when pupils begin to add and subtract across zero, deepening their grasp of negative and positive interactions.

You can use the -10 to 10 number lines, including one with lines every half number, to introduce fractions and decimals in a way that visually reinforces these ideas.

They allow children to see parts of numbers in relation to whole numbers. This prepares them to work with more complex fractions later on.

Blank positive and negative number lines

The blank number lines with varied spacings add further versatility, giving you the freedom to set your own intervals and customise activities based on your lesson objectives.

This resource is a valuable tool for introducing negative numbers, reinforcing place value, and supporting addition and subtraction skills in a visually engaging, hands-on format.
