An extract from the National Literary Trust’s Literacy Guide for Secondary Schools 2015/16, which seeks to inform teachers of recent policy and research regarding the teaching of literacy, and is intended to complement the National Literacy Trust Network’s Annual Literacy Review.

Sample includes introduction and section 1 of the guide, ‘Leading literacy across the school’, which puts schools’ literacy provision within a wider context and contains suggestions on how to develop a consistent, school-wide approach to literacy.
