You know that old saying, “does what it says on the tin”? Well, what if the tins are blank, asks Jane Dowden?
Breakfast is nearly ready! Your eggs and sausages are cooked and it’s time to add the beans. But wait… your cans got wet on the journey home and all the labels have fallen off, meaning you can no longer tell them apart.
You don’t want to waste anything or accidentally pour cat food onto your breakfast!
So, how can you work out their contents without having to open them? What methods could you use to compare different cans? Would some cans be easier to figure out than others? If so, why?
What they’ll learn…
- Children will conduct their own investigation to find out the contents of different cans
- They’ll learn how to record and present their results using the scientific method
- Teamwork skills will improve as they adapt their experiment to suit the variables
