Ripping, tearing, cutting, pasting, glueing – what’s not for kids to love? This collage KS2 lesson plan involves collaborating on a collage and playing with contrasting colours, tones, shapes and sizes.
This lesson plan offers opportunities for children to immerse themselves in colour. They will experiment with contrasting complementary colours and explore the richness and diversity of colour and tone before collaborating to create large-scale collages inspired by the luminous colours of nature
Collage in KS2
Collage is one of the most engaging and accessible of art processes. Children can have great fun experimenting with combining images from different sources in their artwork.
There’s another way of making collages in the classroom, however, and this one is all about colour. Children learn the names of colours before they even pick up a paintbrush – but how many really learn to look at the endless range of colours and tones around them?
When it comes to colour, there’s plenty to talk about. There’s a huge spectrum of colour at our disposal in the form of magazines, all ready to be recycled into artworks.
