This classroom poster features two simple classroom rules, thought up by teacher and ex-Navy officer Matthew Lane.
Two classroom rules poster
The rules are as follows:
1. You are responsible for what you do – and do not do.
2. You are entitled to your own opinion – and to have it questioned.

Rules explained
In essence, the first rule encompasses how pupils talk to one another, and the expectation that students will help one another. On the other hand, children are also expected to ask for help if they are struggling. It’s about making your class responsible for their own learning and the learning of their peers.
This first rule also covers pupils not distracting each other, disrupting learning or being unkind to one another.
The second rule is focused on remembering that words have power, and encouraging children to think carefully about how to support others with the language they use.
