A review tool designed to help staff evaluate their school’s ethos, philosophy and quality of provision across the three integral elements of literacy – reading, writing and spoken language.
Each element is organised into key areas of the English curriculum and then split within three focus sections:
• Whole school • Staff • Pupils
Staff are thus given different layers of analysis – the big picture, ethos and policy and how this is reflected across the school and wider community; what this looks like in the classroom within teaching and learning; and how this is reflected in pupils’ learning and action in school.
