What will students see and do?
It’s time for adventure with Mendip Activity Centre in the Mendip Hills, South West England!
Mendip Activity Centre is an outdoor activity provider setting the gold standard in school outdoor adventure trips. With over 30 years of experience delivering school trips, its team are well practised in inspiring young people to make time for adventure.
School residentials
Mendip offers week-long school activity residentials for primary schools, secondary schools and colleges. It has a range of accommodation venues across Somerset, including a canvas-tented village, a youth hostel, a country lodge and a traditional campsite.
These residential weeks are designed to be enjoyable, challenging and rewarding. The focus is on providing real adventure in unique destinations.
The centre’s team are proud to deliver technology-free weeks: by making time to disconnect, young people can build their confidence and resilience and reconnect with nature.

How does the trip link to the curriculum?
The benefits of outdoor learning and outdoor education are well documented. By making time to disconnect, young people can build their confidence and resilience and reconnect with nature.
Mendip’s outdoor activities help pupils develop their team and leadership skills through group initiative problem-solving exercises. Instructors act as facilitators to ensure students make the most of their time.
Outdoor activity sessions at Mendip are perfect for pupils beginning the academic year; alternatively, many schools choose to book a trip later in the year to help students prepare for challenges ahead, as well as as a reward.
Mendip’s extensive range of outdoor activities can be linked to the curriculum in a number of ways, and its team will work with teachers to achieve desired learning goals.
Topics such as geology, geography and science can be covered while students are caving, orienteering, climbing or paddling. Cheddar Gorge is a popular destination to see geography in action. Discover the history of a World War 2 home base or mining, or use the outdoors as inspiration for art, design and creative writing.
