What will students see and do?
At Lodge Hill Trust, there are plenty of opportunities for students to get out and about and explore nature. At the centre, students will have the opportunity to participate in numerous activities that help them get in touch with nature and explore the wild side of the English countryside.
Students can put their physical strength to the test with abseiling and climbing, a gladiator challenge, a high wobble board, zip lines, mountain biking, slacklining and tunnelling. All these activities are designed to get students’ adrenaline pumping and help them uniquely engage with their surroundings.
Aside from these thrilling challenges, students can participate in numerous nature-focused activities. These include nature walks, guided hikes, sno-tubing, night hikes and orienteering.
Or, for groups that want to focus on teambuilding exercises, students can participate in Jacob’s ladder, crate stacking, shelter building, low ropes and other team-building exercises. They can also participate in archery and rifle shooting, getting them in the outdoor spirit.
How does the trip link to the curriculum?
Your trip can be linked to several different subject areas, depending on what activities school groups wish to engage in. For groups wanting to focus on physical development and PE, the trip ties in well thanks to its highly physical nature.
Teachers that want to connect the trip to the science curriculum can focus their activities on nature walks, hikes and guided forestry activities. These are a great way for students to put their classroom knowledge into practice in a practical setting.
Additionally, there are plenty of opportunities for communication, social development and team-building. Most of the activities at the centre are designed to help foster camaraderie between students and to help them work together better.

Minimum and maximum group size
There is no minimum or maximum group size for a visit to Lodge Hill. The type of accommodation that students will be placed in will depend on the size of the group. Campsites and self-serve lodges may be better for students in smaller groups, for instance.
