What will students see and do?
On a visit to the Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester, students will have the opportunity to participate in various LEGO therapy workshops, including:
– Story Tales: Ideal for early learners
– Spinning Tops: For students in Key Stage 1
– Seesaw: For students in Key Stage 1
– Catapult: For students in Key Stage 2
– Robotics: For students in Key Stages 2/3
Each workshop focuses on unique engineering, science, maths and team-building skills that can be tied to your school curriculum.
How does the trip link to the curriculum?
Teachers can link LEGO education to a wide range of subjects, namely engineering, communication, maths and science.
During the workshops and school sessions organised by the park, students will participate in activities that allow them to learn more about engineering and practical applications for maths and science.
On top of that, the activities students participate in are designed to help them work together. This leads to improved problem solving, communication, critical thinking and collaboration skills. It’s a great opportunity for teachers to bring classmates together while helping them take their classroom learning to the next level.
Subjects covered
Teaching resources provided
LEGOLAND offers detailed pamphlets on each LEGO workshop offered at the park. This allows teachers the opportunity to plan their curriculum ahead of time and relate it to the workshop that their group will be participating in on their adventure.
Additionally, a teacher’s guide and a teacher’s toolkit are available for download.
Minimum and maximum group size
There is no minimum group size for school groups planning a visit. However, there is a group size limit of 30 pupils per workshop. If teachers choose to bring additional students, children can be divided into multiple groups and workshop visits can be split up throughout the day.
Details of risk assessment
LEGOLAND has a detailed risk assessment which is available to schools. The Discovery Centre has its own security staff and engineering and maintenance staff to care for the attractions. All on-site staff wear a uniform so that they can be easily identified by students and teachers if they need any support while visiting.

Facilities On-Site
There are several facilities on-site. Younger pupils can visit Miniland. This is a great choice for teachers who want to bring preschool students.
There is also a 3D cinema and the Great LEGO Race VR Experience. There are also several other attractions and rides that students can enjoy when visiting.
Outside of activities, school groups can participate in play sessions, visit the coffee shop or pay a visit to the LEGO store.
Opening Times
The centre is open from 10.30am until 2pm during the week during the school term. On weekends, the activity centre is open from 9.30am until 6pm, allowing for students and school groups to stay for longer visits.
The centre also extends its opening hours during the summer season and school holidays. During these seasons the centre is open from 9.30am until 6pm the entire week.
If you want to visit the LEGO shop, you can do so from Sunday through Friday from 10am until 6pm. Or, on Saturdays, you can stay in the LEGO shop until 7pm.
Pricing
The price per pupil for a visit to the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester depends on the time of year that students are visiting. Teachers can plan off-season visits or workshop only visits to help them save money on their trip and keep costs to a minimum for students.
From September to February, the entry fee per student is £6. However, during the peak season, which runs from March to August, the price per pupil rises to £7.95. Groups that only wish to enter for the Workshop Tour pay £2 per person.
LEGOLAND offers a free teacher ratio. With this ratio, one adult for every four pupils can visit the centre for free. Plus, additional teachers receive a discount of 30% off the standard adult entry fee.
LEGOLAND also has the option for school groups to add on a visit to Sea Life which is right next door. For an extra £3 per child, school groups can explore both parks on the same visit.
