What will students see and do?
At Go Ape Bedgebury students have the opportunity to participate in three different high-ropes courses.
The easiest level, Treetop Adventure, consists of platforms reaching up to 6m high, and a 37-meter zipline.
The second level of high ropes is the Treetop Adventure Plus. This course features an 80-meter zipwire and slightly more challenging platforms and high-ropes activities.
Finally, the Treetop Challenge is designed to really challenge students’ high-ropes skills. In this course, students will use a Tarzan swing, navigate a tunnel crossing, climb platforms of up to 13 meters and ride on a 170m zipline. Students participating in this course must be taller than 1.4m.
As well as these high-ropes courses, students can take forest walks, go cycling and explore the visitor centre where they’ll learn more about the ecology and geography of the forest.
How does the trip link to the curriculum?
Because of the highly active nature of the trip, a visit to Go Ape is best linked to PE and physical development. It’s a great way to help kids get outdoors and get active.
It can also help personal development in terms of confidence building, problem-solving, teambuilding and leadership due to the many challenges that students will face.

Teaching resources provided
At the visitors centre you’ll find resources for teachers to help educate pupils about the wildlife and geography of the area.
Minimum and maximum group size
Go Ape Bedgebury is appropriate for groups ranging from 10-100 people. Larger groups will need to take turns using the facilities as the ropes courses cannot accommodate all 100 students at the same time.
Additionally, groups smaller than 10 may not be able to take full advantage of everything the centre has to offer.
Details of risk assessment
There is a detailed risk assessment available to teachers on request.
The staff runs regular checks on all the equipment and courses and makes adjustments for weather, staff changes, group sizes and more. Additionally, all the equipment and ropes courses are up to government safety standards and regulations.
