What will students see and do?
At Go Ape Alice Holt students have the chance to explore South Downs from above, with three different courses for students of various ages to try.
The first is the Go Ape Treetop Adventure which is designed for younger children, with no minimum age requirement.
Next is the Treetop Adventure course, where students tackle various bridges and ropes courses before finally going down the zipwire. The tallest point on this adventure is 6m, making it more accessible to younger participants.
For older kids, teachers can take outdoor learning to the next level on Treetop Adventure Plus. Children need to be over 6 years old and taller than 1.2 meters. The course consists of four high ropes loops and a 50-meter zip line at the end.
On top of this, you can also try the Treetop Challenge, which consists of 41 platforms, each with its own zip wire.
And finally, there are also Sundown Sessions for older students that take place after dark.
How does the trip link to the curriculum?
Go Ape activities are excellent for personal development, boosting students’ confidence, resilience, leadership and teambuilding skills as they work their way through the various platforms.
On top of that, the high ropes courses require a lot of physical strength, and are great for helping kids enjoy physical activity, improving their health and wellbeing while getting in some exercise!

Teaching resources provided
While Go Ape is a great outdoor adventure, there are also ample teaching resources available. For KS1 and KS2 groups, teachers have access to downloadable English, maths, PHSE and science resources.
For secondary schools, teachers can download KS3 and KS4 English, economics, science and geography packs.
Plus, there are several learning resource packs that teachers can use to help guide the outdoor adventure at Go Ape.
Minimum and maximum group size
Go Ape adventures are appropriate for groups of between 10-100 students. Larger groups may need to be split into rotations, or divided among the various high ropes courses, to ensure that all students get an opportunity to explore the trees.
Details of risk assessment
Due to the nature of the adventure, safety is taken seriously at Go Ape Alice Holt. Staff members regularly review the equipment and facilities to ensure that everything is safe for pupils.
Treetop Adventures and Treetop Adventure Plus have a separate risk assessment from the Treetop Challenge.
Regular checks are carried out to ensure the safety of the facility, as well as to help prevent Covid-19.
You will need to sign an acknowledgement of risk, and each pupil must be accounted for and have an accompanying signature on the form.
On top of that, school groups are expected to adhere to clothing guidelines. Long hair should be tied up and students should wear closed-toed shoes in order to stay safe on the platforms.
