What will students see and do?
Whether you wish to book a day trip or a residential, a visit to Essex Outdoors’ Danbury centre will give your students a fantastic learning experience in the heart of the Great British countryside.
Set on 70 acres of land, including stunning ancient woodland, Danbury offers unforgettable outdoor education for primary schools, secondary schools and colleges alike.
As well as the picturesque surroundings, there are more than 15 activity programmes for children to enjoy on-site – choose from team-building activities like bushcraft and bridge building, and confidence-building options such as high ropes and zip-wire courses.
Students will also have the chance to learn practical, problem-solving skills through a first aid course and an orienteering and map-skills adventure.
For those keen to inspire a connection with nature in Key Stage 1 and 2, the centre’s forest school sessions involve a visit to local woodland. There, activities include getting familiar with natural materials and tools and taking part in engaging environmental education sessions.
Essex Outdoors, part of Essex County Council, is a member of the Forest School Association and the Essex Learning Outside the Classroom Forum. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme and expedition leadership courses are also run from this site.
