What will students see and do?
Leave the 21st century behind you and discover the treasures of the Cotswolds as you explore its history at the award-winning Corinium Museum.
It’s home to one of the largest collections of Romano-British antiquities, extensively collected from Corinium – Roman Britain’s second-largest city and the place we now know as Cirencester.
However, the museum is much more than that – visitors are taken on a journey through time, charting the development of the Cotswolds from its prehistoric landscape to that of the modern day.
Admire the work of Prehistoric metalsmiths; marvel at the Roman mosaics as you take a peek through the window of a Roman villa; come face to face with the Anglo Saxons and their buried treasures; and be amazed by medieval sculpture, Civil War coin hoards and the elegance of Victorian Cirencester. Every object has a story to tell, and the light and modern galleries ensure that visitors can enjoy an inspiring and interactive experience.
Pupils will be able to examine artefacts relating to prehistory, mosaics, costumes, photographs and much more.
There are special events, temporary exhibitions and a vibrant, changing programme of workshops that take place throughout the year, all planned out on the website’s calendar.
