What will students see and do?
Situated in 50 acres of beautiful rural parkland, Blackwell Adventure has 57 years of experience providing a fantastic adventure getaway to keep kids active.
It was founded in the late 1960s when the Birmingham County Scouts decided it was time to find a new campsite. They converted a country house estate with financial support from a local benevolent millionaire, Douglas Turner, but it wasn’t until 2005 that the centre also opened its doors to schools, colleges, family groups and businesses.
The site retains many of its original Victorian features. However, the activity bases have increased dramatically over the years, making Blackwell Adventure a perfect choice for those looking for everything in one place.
Students can enjoy activities such as zip wire, 3G swing, tree trek, caving, bushcraft, fan descender, tree climbing, abseiling, team challenges, swimming, pedal go karts, archery, pioneering, rifle range shooting, orienteering, raft building, kayaking, indoor and outdoor climbing, high all aboard, grass sleds, giants ladder and crate stack.
How does the trip link to the curriculum?
Blackwell Adventure has been supporting teachers with school trips for over 12 years, with a focus on encouraging young people to build their confidence and problem-solving abilities.
Whether your pupils are taking that leap off the fan descender or hitting the gold on the archery target, Blackwell Adventure’s caring and supportive approach ensures that pupils have an excellent experience from start to finish.
The centre offers a number of packages that help support your key objectives and are regular favourites with schools and colleges.
The multi-activity day is ideal for an end-of-year reward or an induction day at the start of the year. Meanwhile, the residential packages are based in either the wooden pod village, tented village or historic manor house, and take place over two or four nights. On either of these, instructor-led activities promote teamwork, communication, social skills, self-reliance and reflection.
The site is also ideal for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE).
