Discover an engaging online maths practice tool that uses games-based learning to make maths lessons exciting and enjoyable for all!
Sumdog Maths uses adaptive learning technology to provide a unique learning experience for pupils aged 5–14, with questions that adapt to each pupil’s individual level.
1. Identifies gaps for you
Pupils start by taking a short diagnostic test that gives you a snapshot of their learning level across a number and a range of other maths topics.
Our easy-to-read stranded report then highlights where your pupils might need some extra support as well as their strengths, before setting them on their own personalised learning journey with questions tailored to their needs.
2. Reduces maths anxiety
By setting questions at each pupils’ individual level, classmates can play alongside each other without feeling anxious about what level they’re working at.
You can feel confident in setting differentiated work for a mixed-ability class, whilst ensuring everyone is practising their skills and consolidating their knowledge of key maths topics together, supporting a maths mastery approach.
Sumdog also runs termly contests for multi-academy trusts and at regional and national levels to encourage friendly competition between schools and classes. Our contests are a fun way to practise maths, have fun and boost pupil confidence, and with everyone practising at their own level, everyone has a fair chance of winning!

3. Streamlines formative assessment
Our ready-made bank of low-stakes tests provides a stress-free way for you to assess your pupils in the familiar Sumdog environment.
You’re free to use them or to create your own custom test to assess your pupils at the start or end of a unit, to assess retrieval strength and understanding, and to help plan next steps.
4. Automated reporting demonstrates progress
Each test is automatically marked to help save you time so you can focus on the insights. You can see results in real-time, see how pupils have performed on each question and where they might need further practice setting.
You can also send feedback and rewards to help them feel motivated to progress!
5. Enjoyable learning for all
Our mission at Sumdog is to narrow the attainment gap for all children to help them reach their full potential. To help achieve this, we make our platform accessible for all levels of learner so they can practise their maths skills and enjoy their learning, no matter their ability.
