A visit to Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery supports productive careers conversations with young people…
Recreating the workplaces of technicians across the health science, creative arts, manufacturing and renewable energy sectors, the Technicians gallery at the Science Museum in London enables pupils to get hands-on with interactive exhibits that simulate job-related tasks.
They’ll experience what it’s like to be a lighting technician on the Marvel Studios Black Panther filmset, how to solve problems faced by wind turbine technicians, and how to make lifesaving medicine as an NHS pharmacy technician.
The gallery is aligned with science, design, technology, art and computer science curriculums and supports productive career conversations spanning a range of sectors.
School groups can book onto the free Meet an Employee workshop, where pupils will meet a technician and learn about their job through a hands-on activity or Q&A session. This workshop would support you in meeting Gatsby’s Good Career Guidance benchmarks by providing opportunities to experience workplace environments.

The Science Museum has created a fun, careers-themed activity trail to help lead your pupils around the museum.
They will explore Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries, Mathematics: The Winton Gallery, and Making the Modern World, finding out how real-life technicians helped design and build these objects. The trail shows how technicians have helped to build the world around us.
