Encourage your students to engage with religious education at KS3 and enable them to understand, discern and respond to key concepts and ideas...
Written by experienced teachers and diocesan advisors, Spirit and Life is a new series from Hodder Education designed to provide tailored and accessible support for the new Religious Education Directory (RED) for Catholic schools. The series includes three textbooks (available as paperbacks and eBooks), each supported by a package of digital teaching and learning resources.
The textbooks have been designed to provide support for all students, offering opportunities for progress from KS2, whilst also building knowledge and understanding for students who have not attended a Catholic primary school.
The key features of the textbooks include:
- Engaging and accessible layout – content is presented clearly with images, artwork and illustrations to help bring key concepts to life
- Religious teachings – key passages from the Bible and Catechism are included throughout, as well as quotes and extracts from sources of authority
- ‘Think’ boxes – encourage a high level of questioning with these prompts that get students thinking deeply about different topics
- ‘Understand’, ‘Discern’ and ‘Respond’ tasks – help students to consolidate, interpret and reflect on what they have learnt, building their knowledge and critical-thinking skills
- Key term definitions – clear explanations of key terms are provided throughout to aid understanding
- ‘Link’ boxes – links between chapters in the book are outlined, to help students make connections between topics.
Each textbook is supported by a package of digital teaching and learning resources, available via our interactive, user-friendly platform, Boost. These packages include editable course plans, lesson PowerPoints and worksheets, detailed theological notes for teachers, interactive quizzes and automatic reporting tools.
