Key Stage
KS1, KS2

Real Grammar provides everything needed to teach and embed all objectives from the grammar curriculum for Years 1–6.

Created by experts, these powerful resources will save you time, ensure consistently excellent grammar teaching and learning, and improve outcomes for all pupils.

Grammar is ‘real’ when children can apply it in their own writing. This means they need to know the correct grammatical terminology, be able to identify different aspects of grammar in a range of written texts, and then demonstrate that they can use that grammar appropriately.

To support them in making effective, independent choices, rote learning simply doesn’t work.

Real Grammar is an approach that recognises all of this and so has a robust teaching sequence to ensure that pupils achieve deep and lasting grammatical understanding.

“All the resources I would make myself if I had the time! Love the differentiation and the ‘real’ applications of the objectives. So important for the children to feel that learning grammar is necessary”

A. Griffith, Y3/4 teacher

By combining teacher-led learning with practice activities and written application, Real Grammar provides teachers with comprehensive, fully resourced lesson planning to ensure that all children succeed.

Each of the 109 packs in the programme focuses on a single objective – or part objective – from the National Curriculum for grammar, and uses the same simple and effective five-step approach: teach, practise, revisit, apply, revise.

An original model text – age-appropriate in content and length – shows children the objective in context; worksheets are differentiated three ways according to cognitive load; games and activities give multiple opportunities to secure pupils’ knowledge; and creative writing challenges give them agency in their learning.

Fully editable coverage and tracking sheets are supplied to ensure complete content coverage, and log pupils’ progress.

“When they use Real Grammar, schools can be confident that they are covering all of the National Curriculum objectives in a structured and systematic manner”

Rachel Clarke, director, Primary English Education Consultancy
