Since 2005 CLPE (Centre for Children’s Literacy in Primary Education) has delivered the Power of Reading project to over 4,000 schools and 5,000 Primary Teachers nationally and internationally.
There are currently projects across England, from Liverpool to Newcastle and Bristol to Norfolk, all with the aim of enhancing teachers’ knowledge of quality literature and developing their ability to use it creatively in the classroom.
The Power of Reading and Power of Reading in the Early Years are proven to raise children’s literacy achievement with 98% of teachers saying their attendance has raised attainment and engagement in reading and writing across their schools.
Not only does this training develop a whole school love of reading and writing, it meets all requirements of the National Curriculum.
Power of Reading training includes:
- 4 full days of primary literacy training
- Free senior leader place on the first and last training days
- 20 children’s books for every teacher that attends
- Whole-school access to a website with 200 teaching sequences for Early Years to Year 7
- Discounted places for additional teachers across Power of Reading and Power of Reading in the Early Years
- More than 30% discount for school groups, trusts, LAs who buy 10+ places

Can’t attend CLPE’s Power of Reading Training?
CLPE also offers an annual membership for schools where you can access teaching sequences and examples of classroom practice to help you build an exciting and relevant literacy curriculum.
And the great news is that one membership allows access to the whole school for 12 months so all year groups can benefit from creative teaching approaches.
The membership gives your school access to:
- Over 200 comprehensive teaching sequences for Nursery to Year 7 linked to high-quality Power of Reading books
