Dance Days specialise in providing educational dance workshops for schools, tailored to meet your students’ needs.
We are able to showcase over 30 dance styles linked to the curriculum, world events and celebrations. This will enhance your pupils’ learning outside of the classroom and help boost physical activity and wellbeing in a non-traditional way.
A new experience
Our dance workshops offer a new experience to many students; they are designed for all age groups, build on teamwork, and help children learn a new skill while having fun.
Using dance in your school is a great way to encourage physical exercise; it’s fun and inclusive and opens up PE to those pupils who can sometimes shy away from competitive sports.
Dance doesn’t require any specialist equipment, and your school hall or dining room can become a dance studio with all of our dance workshops.
Dance can also be linked to many curriculum topics and school events. This adds an additional layer of fun to the learning and enriches your pupils’ understanding of subjects away from the classroom.
Choose your focus
We can incorporate dance into most subjects, including geography, religious studies, and even history!
We have a calendar full of topics that promote learning through dance and can help boost learning, improve mental and physical wellbeing, and build confidence while teaching new skills.
The topics included in our calendar include events such as Diwali, Christmas, Chinese New Year, World Book Day, St Patrick’s Day, VE and Remembrance Day, the Commonwealth Games, the World Cup, and many more.
“We can incorporate dance into most subjects, including geography, religious studies, and even history!”
We also provide a number of off-topic styles, such as street dance and musicals.
We have worked with schools running themed events such as multicultural, international and healthy, PE and sports weeks, and language days. You can also pick and mix our styles to build your very own Dance Day.
Here are some of the countries and styles we provide to help bring your events and topics to life:
- African dance is fantastic for classes exploring Africa.
- Carnival dance is popular for pupils looking at Brazil.
- Chinese dance helps celebrate Chinese New Year and China.
- Flamenco dance is perfect for your Spanish Day.
- Bollywood dance works well during Diwali.
- 1940s swing can be linked to a World War II topic.
Bespoke sessions
For a one-form entry school, we can dance with up to seven classes during a full school day, with one class per session. We usually suggest 30-minute sessions for the youngest of children, increasing up to 45 minutes for KS2.
We will provide tailored options based on your school size and the number of children taking part.
A typical session will include an introduction to the style along with some fact-finding. After a short warm-up, we will then work with your children to deliver and teach the chosen routine and choreography, with the delivery methods tailored to the age group we are teaching.
Alongside our school visits, we also provide our digital dance tutorials with Dance Days TV.
This is a collection of our most popular dance workshops hosted via video, so your children can keep practising or be used to help boost your teaching team’s dance delivery, and they can become the instructor.
You can read all of our dance workshop reviews on our website.
