Premier League Primary Stars has teamed up with the Anti-Bullying Alliance to launch a set of free, curriculum-linked teaching resources for schools titled ‘Choose Respect’.
The resources have been created in support of Anti-Bullying Week 2024 (11–15 November), which this year focuses on showing respect for all, regardless of gender, race, or ability, and applying it in real-life situations.
Available on the Premier League Primary Stars education website, the free resources are a new addition to the Premier League Primary Stars Anti-Bullying campaign, designed for children aged 7–11 and to equip teachers with tools to effectively address bullying.
Drawing on the expertise of industry leaders and subject matter experts, the football-themed lessons use the sport’s appeal to inspire meaningful classroom conversations, encourage reflection on behaviour, and promote respectful relationships.
What’s included?
The new ‘Choose Respect’ teaching pack includes a complete lesson focused on exploring respect, supported by key terms such as acceptance and conflict, and a film reinforcing positive behaviour. The pack also features three engaging worksheets:
- ‘Respect on the Pitch’, which presents sport scenarios to highlight respectful behaviour
- ‘Roleplay Scenarios’ – interactive cards for practising respectful responses
- ‘My Respect Pledges’, allowing students to make personal and school-wide commitments to respect.
Complete with teacher notes, the resources are available to all registered teachers, with no prior football knowledge needed.
Teachers who reviewed the resources shared positive feedback: “This resonated with my KS2 pupils, framing respect in a relatable way”. Another commented, “It offers practical knowledge students can apply in their school setting, with the potential to make a meaningful difference.”
In addition to ‘Choose Respect’, Premier League Primary Stars offers a range of Anti-Bullying Week resources, such as Make a Noise about Bullying, Reaching Out, and Kicking Around Kindness, all aimed at creating more inclusive and respectful school environments.
Premier League Primary Stars
Premier League Primary Stars is the Premier League’s primary school education programme. Funded by the Premier League, through the Premier League Charitable Fund, it uses the appeal of football to help children to be active and develop essential life skills.
The free programme enables teachers to use resources across English, PSHE, PE and maths to support children to develop skills and values that are crucial to success in later life.
Teachers and parents can access more than 650 downloadable resources across a range of curriculum subjects at Key Stage 1 (age 5–7) and Key Stage 2 (age 7–11), developed by teachers for teachers, and in collaboration with experts such as the Anti-Bullying Alliance and National Literacy Trust.
