She is passionate about sharing her knowledge, experience and enthusiasm, leading her to establish Cast of Thousands, a website for educators featuring a curated selection of children's books alongside cross-curricular activities and interviews.

As an experienced freelance writer and creative entrepreneur, Carey develops articles, educational resources and reviews for magazines and arts organisations, including Teach Primary and the National Association of Primary Education.

She was a founding team member at Seven Stories, the UK’s national centre for children's books, where she played a key role in creative projects and partnerships.

Carey also manages and delivers literary workshops and events. She is a qualified and experienced primary school teacher and a graduate of Girton College, University of Cambridge.
