What will students see and do?

Twickenham Stadium, near London, is the home of England Rugby and the largest dedicated rugby union venue in the world, seating up to 82,000 people.

Educational groups are invited to explore the hallowed grounds of the stadium with a rugby expert, journey through rugby history in the World Rugby Museum, and experience hands-on learning in a free education session.

The tour will take you to the most exciting areas of the stadium where your group can:

• Take a seat in the England Dressing Room
• Imagine the roar of the crowd as you run out of the players’ tunnel to take in the view pitch-side
• Absorb the atmosphere from the best seats in the house in the Royal Box
• Follow the history of the game in the World Rugby Museum, from its origins at Rugby School to the present day
• Explore a glittering array of trophies including the Calcutta Cup, made from 270 silver rupees
• Take up the challenge of discovering “What Kind of Rugby Player Are You?” in the Play Rugby Interactive Zone.

The World Rugby Museum has a diverse educational programme to accommodate all groups. A free education session is available as part of the stadium tour package.

Students will have a practical learning experience linked to the national curriculum as part of a fun and memorable day out.

How does the trip link to the curriculum?

Every educational workshop at the World Rugby Museum is linked to the national curriculum.

For physical education, Rugby in Motion explores the different fitness skills required of elite players whilst offering exclusive insight into England Rugby training. Alternatively, pupils can engage in a practical rugby coaching session in the Tours & Training package, with a bespoke session run by London Irish Community coaches followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of Twickenham Stadium.

For those interested in business, citizenship or geography, Stadium Director puts pupils in the top spot as they take on the decision-making process of building a new stadium. And STEM teachers can check on the website for details about the World Rugby Museum’s new STEM-linked workshop, launching in spring 2023.

Educators working with Key Stage 5 and above can also select from a range of seminars with RFU experts, offering exclusive real-life learning into the business and logistics of running a national governing body and an 82,000 capacity stadium. Schools can receive curriculum guides for each education workshop upon booking.
