What will students see and do?
The Expedition Team is an adventure activity guide, leading people of all ages out into the mountains to create the memories of a lifetime. If you have a desire to walk in the wilder parts of the United Kingdom, but are uncertain of your skills, the kit you might need, or just where to go, The Expedition Team can help with this.
Its knowledge and understanding of local areas enable the company to identify the area most suited to your field study, as well as offer wild camp options that will help students to get the most out of their time away from the classroom.
Groups of students will be taken to the challenging mountainous areas of England and Wales, while the team work with them to develop their leadership and communication skills. Each trip will be developed and agreed upon by you well in advance, and locations and activities will be driven by the potential abilities of your students. The team are also happy to work with staff from SEN teams to develop specific itineraries for their students.
All field trips are fully supported by a combination of mountain leaders and experienced geography graduates. The team will provide all of your camping equipment and a kit list of personal clothing and items that students should bring with them. You simply need to take care of the equipment and return it clean, dry and in the same condition it was in when you got it.
How does the trip link to the curriculum?
All of The Expedition Team’s activities are designed fully in consultation with you; whether you want your group to traverse the infamous Brecon Beacons, climb one of the country’s highest mountains in Snowdonia or experience the eerie stillness of Dartmoor, the team can make it happen.
Students will experience the most exciting and exhilarating days they have ever enjoyed, and come away feeling refreshed and realising that a whole new world has been opened up to them.
As an approved expedition provider for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, The Expedition Team is also able to ensure that expeditions are tailor-made to fit the requirements of the scheme.
The training that will take place on these trips is immersive, experiential and a huge amount of fun. Some elements of the programme are best suited to the classroom – first aid, countryside code, menu planning, route planning and a few points on personal hygiene – but the bulk of the syllabus will be taught in the open air.
