What will students see and do?
Based in the heart of Dartmoor on the banks of the River Dart, CRS Adventures is an independent outdoor centre providing a high standard of outdoor education and care.
It mainly hosts residential stays from primary and secondary schools across the United Kingdom, but the centre is also more than happy to tailor shorter activities for local schools, including packages for initiatives such as the gifted and talented programme.
It also has experience working closely with students with special educational and behavioural needs.
The site comprises 90 acres of private woodland including on-site lakes, making it one of the best locations in the south west to enjoy a range of all-year-round outdoor activities.
These include kayaking, canoeing, climbing, abseiling, caving, Jacob’s ladder, crate stacking, walking and mountain biking. It also has an extensive selection of on-site tree-top activities including a very large high ropes course, balance beams and a zip wire.
If that’s not enough, it runs a number of additional programmes such as a winter course that focuses more on learning from nature than physical challenges. Activities include pond dipping, making a bug home, starting a campfire, woodland art, bark and leaf rubbing, blindfolded nature adventures, mini beast hunting, scavenger hunts, finding animal tracks, making winter homes for wildlife, recycling and reusing, woodland walks, building a mini boat and orienteering.
Whether you are looking for a trip that incorporates conference facilities and practical challenges or a programme of interactive activities, you can be assured that CRS Adventures has the facilities, qualified instructors and experience to help you meet your objectives.
How does the trip link to the curriculum?
CRS Adventures’ tailor-made outdoor activity days are designed to inspire, challenge and bring out the best in all ages. Once you get in contact, the staff will consult closely with you on what you want to achieve from your visit and devise a unique activity programme for the group – they understand that every client will have a different brief for their stay.
There is a wide range of mentally and physically challenging tasks and activities to choose from. These will help students develop self-esteem, peer support, confidence and positive attitudes that they can take back to the classroom and their everyday lives.
CRS Adventures holds the Learning Outside the Classroom (LoTC) Quality Badge, indicating that the centre has passed a robust assessment designed to ensure that it is meeting schools’ learning and risk management needs.
