What will students see and do?
Craggan Outdoors is situated in Speyside in the Cairngorms National Park, the largest in the United Kingdom. It’s home to Britain’s highest mountain range, its biggest native forests and some of its most iconic wildlife. The River Spey runs right past it too, at the bottom of the centre’s golf course.
Craggan Outdoors knows and understands the valuable contribution that outdoor activities can make in a child’s education. It has established a reputation for providing a safe, fun, challenging and inspiring environment to which schools can bring children for anything from a morning or afternoon of activities to a full week residential – in fact, it was voted the Best Outdoor Adventure Experience in the Scottish Outdoor Leisure Awards 2019 and Best Outdoor Activity and Learning Centre in the Scottish Enterprise Awards 2018.
The site specialises in delivering the very best outdoor activity-focused experiences for groups of all types, ages and abilities. These activities include archery, art and creativity, bushcraft, clay pigeon shooting, climbing, abseiling, disc golf, foot golf, gorge walking, high ropes, kayaking, laser tag, mini highland games, mini quads, mountain biking, paintball, pony trekking, raft building, canoeing, team problem solving, trail walking, white water rafting and a zip wire.
Over the years, Craggan Outdoors has developed a good level of expertise in working with children with a wide range of physical, emotional and behavioural issues.
Staff are chosen for their people skills as well as their technical capabilities, ensuring that they are comfortable working with a wide range of people, and will put all at ease and give support, guidance, encouragement and confidence as required.

The centre’s approach to creating the perfect bespoke experience is to discover as much as possible about your group and their capabilities, along with what you wish to achieve from your time on the trip.

Facilities on-site
At Craggan Outdoors, there are several choices of accommodation for up to 60 people in total. The Glenbeg Bunkhouse (27 beds), Glenbeg Bothy (six beds) and summerhouse (four beds) are located side-by-side in a secluded and picturesque spot at the top of the Glenbeg Estate, a five-minute drive or 40-minute walk down to the activity centre. The Ardenbeg Bunkhouse (23 beds) is located on a quiet road in Grantown-on-Spey, a similar distance away.
The catering team can plan for all dietary requirements, both medical and religious.

Travel arrangements
Craggan Outdoors is conveniently located right beside the A95, one mile south of Grantown-on-Spey. That means it is 15 minutes from Aviemore, 45 minutes from Inverness, two hours from Aberdeen and less than three hours from the Central Belt.
The closest train station is Broomhill Station (the location for Glenbogle Station in the BBC’s ‘Monarch of the Glen’), just five minutes away.
The postcode covers a wide area, so keep an eye out for the big purple signs leading to Craggan Outdoors.
