PDF teacher's guide, lesson plan, presentation and info sheet
KS3, KS4
Years 7-11
Explore some of the basics when it comes to being online with this internet safety KS3 lesson plan and teacher’s notes.
Open up a discussion among students about the way that technology and the internet has changed our lives. Discuss how we behave and how we communicate.
This internet safety KS3 resource uses fun and engaging activities to encourage students to discuss things to bear in mind when using the internet. These take the form of ‘the four C’s’:
- Content – explores the differences between what we would share with people online and offline
- Contact – explored as part of a role play activity, which offers different scenarios relating to the four C’s
- Conduct – a ‘World Wide Web’ activity that gets students on their feet to discuss how easily things we post online can be shared
- Commercialism – explore one aspect of online commercial activity in depth – in-app purchases – with a board game activity

Be Strong Online
This is the first module in the Be Strong Online programme. This is a resource from The Diana Award and Vodafone to help students explore the digital world.
The programme covers everything from gaming and selfies to privacy, apps and social networking. Be Strong Online uses a peer-to-peer format. Each module provides all the resources needed for teachers to train a small group of students (who we call the ‘Tech Trainers’). They’ll deliver short lessons to other students in the school.
This team of Tech Trainers can then be brought together again to deliver further modules.
This peer-to-peer format format is based on the highly successful methods used by the Diana Award Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme. This provides anti-bullying training to schools and youth organisations.
